"Except that she's been out here long enough for the battery to die."
"You can see that just by looking at her. What's left of her."
Ed swallowed. "Doesn't it bother you?"
"I can't afford to let it bother me." The EMT finished strapping the body bag to the gurney. "Take care."
Ed collapsed onto a rock, covered his face, and wondered who she had been. Had her family given up looking? He lifted his head and leaned back, looking up, up, up, past the top of the cliff and to the clear blue sky.
What a horribly gorgeous day.
