1. Use the following words: blue, ready, inside, house, worlds. (10 min)
Ches ducked around the corner of the house, and peered inside. Len limped after him, and flopped down on the ground to lean against the wall.
"Of all the worlds we could have ended up on," Ches muttered.
"Shut up." Len peered at his leg, moving it experimentally.
"Blue. Everything is blue. Even the bloody sky is blue."
"I said, shut up. Are you ready to get inside? The tape on my suit isn't going to hold much longer."
2. Write about seeing something in a new light (literal or figurative).
Ches stood up and squinted toward the street. It seemed to be deserted - everbody must be fleeing the insane brightness of the sun. He picked up a rock, hefting it with both hands. The window seemed to be the weak point, but even windows were tough, to prevent breakage. He backed up a few steps, and took a run at it, trying for a good starter crack.
The rock went right through the window and landed about five steps into the room, rolling a few times before coming to a stop.
"Oh."
Ches and Len looked at each other for a moment, then Len started hauling himself up.
After cleaning the shards of sharp, brittle glass from the frame, Ches climbed through. There was an unlabelled lever-type switch on the far wall, and he guessed it would be for light.
He flipped it to the up position, and heard a yell and a thump behind him. The wall fluoresced green, and Ches flinched. Given how bright the reflection was, he really didn't want to turn around. He flipped the switch down, and ran to help Len.
A pair of tubes on the ceiling slowly cooled, emitting green light for another minute before going dark.
3. Write about the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
Len was curled up on the ground, one arm over his helmet.
"It's dark. You ok?"
"Tape's loose."
Ches looked over. Len's other arms were holding his leg, an end of tape fluttering past the edge of his gloves.
Something banged, and a dim orange light swept past the door. A pair of locals carrying the lights walked past, then stepped into the room.
"Oh, flash."
One of the locals reached for the lever with a low rumbling noise.
