1. Use the following words in a story or essay: plunk sweet Truth smile continue. (10 min)
Truth is a funny thing. Cary forced a smile and looked at her notes for the millionth time.
"The facts are indisputable," she said, trying to continue over the murmer of hostile voices. "If you would just look at the numbers, you'll find that they aren't anywhere near what we've all been hoping."
She turned on the overhead projector, and the light made a *plunk* sound as it popped on.
"Look," she said, pushing a transparent copy of her notes over the light and fiddling with the mirrors until she hit the sweet spot that displayed about 90% of her page crisply. Equation afterimages danced in front of her eyes when she looked up from the projector bed.
2. Write about a blind date with a character who has a very odd profession.(10 min)
The faces of her current prospects were obscured by the equations they were trying so hard to deny. But then, she supposed that people in their business didn't really have the best grasp of mathematics. Maybe that was why her agent hadn't told her what they did when setting up their first meeting.
Cary blinked a few times, the equations clearing. She hated going in blind. And given the way they were reacting to her preparatory work, they may not hire her.
