sea lion
Sea lion at the Vancouver aquarium

I'm sure the sea lion to the right is quite aware that everybody is watching her and thinks she's cute. The show-off.

That picture and the one below were taken one afternoon at the Vancouver Aquarium. I happened to have some black and white film in the camera at the time, so all of my Aquarium pictures for the day were b&w. This was also the first roll of b&w that I've shot since grade 9 or so. I'm happy with how these pictures turned out, but the scans leave something to be desired. There's too much black and white, and not nearly enough grey texture in the scans.

sea lions napping
Nap time

The sea lions decided to have a nap on the edge of their pool a couple of hours after the show I watched (when the above picture was taken). A knot of people attracted my attention and I went to see what they were looking at. I'm glad I did...

sea turtle
A swimming turtle

This turtle was swimming next to the glass in one of the underwater viewing areas. They can move surprisingly fast under water, so I pre-focussed on the block he's swimming over. Focussing through glass and water is tricky, as I found out that day.
